Choose your dress style!

The search for your wedding gown can be an overwhelming experience if you are not sure what to look for. Your choice will be easier when you know the silhouettes of wedding gowns and which one will look most flattering on your figure. Wearing the right cut of gown for your body type can draw attention to your best features and minimize those you are concerned about.

Here are several suggestions for consideration when trying on these silhouettes based on your body type. Remember these are generalized recommendations, and you will still want to try on different styles to find out what fits you best and what you feel prettiest in. Body shapes can vary tremendously and there is no one size fits all approach. Please talk with your bridal consultant about fit is best for you.

Basque Waist:
The classic V-shape is its hallmark. Accentuating curves, this curved style's point falls three to five inches below the natural waistline. Most flattering for short-waisted women as it elongates the torso and through tapering can trim a thick middle.

Empire Waist: A stately raised waistline, beginning just beneath the bust, is a mainstay on runways year after year. Most flattering if you're small-chested and slim, an Empire dress augments your shape. Busty women often find this effect to be too much of a good thing.

Side Drape: Slanting diagonally across the body, originanting from the natural waist, and ending an inch or two below the hips. Most flattering for full-figured gals who benefit from its slenderizing results; the draping effect can obscure a less-than-toned mid section.

Dropped Waist: Falling either near your natural waist or your derriere, the effect can be classic and stately or contemporary and sultry. Most flattering for ladies with wide hips, the waist hits near your belly button lengthens your middle and can be used for disguising bulges.

Column: A simply elegant straightline style for classic natural beauty. Most flattering for petite women, because this style is without a waist it makes anyone look taller; it can also be very friendly to tall slim ladies looking for simple elegance.

Natural Waist: Resting between the rib cage and the hips, this style highlights where a woman's waistline naturaly is. Most flattering for long-waisted ladies as it shortens their midsection. This style also accentuates hourglass figures very nicely.

Mermaid Style: A highly fashionable style that accentuates curves with wide appeal amongst ladies of all body types. Most flattering for taller and slimmer ladies, although it is widely used by many brides today.
